Questions to Ask Your Wedding Stylist (Before You Book Them!)
So, you’ve decided to hire a wedding stylist—great choice! Now comes the fun part: finding the right fit. Just like any good relationship, the connection between you and your stylist needs to feel right. You want someone who “gets” your style, listens to your ideas, and has the experience to bring everything together with ease. But where do you start?

Whether you’re just starting out or narrowing down your options, here are some of the best questions to ask your stylist before you lock anything in.
- Have you worked at our venue before?
Every venue is different. Some have tighter access times, others have tricky layouts, or specific rules for setup and pack-down. A stylist who’s familiar with your venue will already know what works and what doesn’t—and if they haven’t been there before, make sure they’re happy to do a site visit early in the planning process. - What services do you offer beyond styling?
Not all stylists are the same. Some simply create mood boards, others manage the full visual setup. At Enhance, we offer hire, styling and coordination—so we can look after everything from furniture and florals to timelines and vendor communication. It’s important to understand what’s included (and what’s not), so you know exactly where your bases are covered. - Can you work within our budget?
Let’s be honest—weddings are an investment. A good stylist should be transparent about costs and willing to guide you through where you can save or splurge based on your priorities. Don’t be afraid to talk numbers early on. The right stylist will help you get the most out of your budget while keeping your vision in mind and being realistic with budget. - What’s your process like from start to finish?
Ask about timelines, planning meetings, what input they need from you, and when. You’ll want to know how they go from “initial ideas” to “fully styled celebration.” It’s also helpful to ask how they handle changes or unexpected hiccups along the way—because let’s face it, life happens. - Do you offer hire items, or do I need to source my own?
Some stylists have their own range of hire items (like us!), while others may work with external suppliers. Ask what’s available in-house, and what might need to be sourced elsewhere. This can have a big impact on logistics and budget, so it’s worth clarifying upfront. - Can we see examples of your past work?
Photos speak louder than words. Ask to see real weddings they’ve styled—bonus points if they’ve done similar themes or venues to yours. It’ll give you a sense of their creative style, attention to detail, and ability to deliver on what they promise. - How do you communicate throughout the planning process?
Do they prefer email, phone calls, face-to-face meetings? Will you have regular check-ins? Planning a wedding takes months, so knowing how and when you’ll be in touch can make a big difference to your overall experience (and stress levels!). - Do you offer on-the-day coordination?
This one is gold. Having someone there on the day to manage suppliers, oversee the setup, and make sure everything runs smoothly means you and your loved ones can relax and actually enjoy the celebration. Many stylists (including us!) offer this as an optional add-on or bundled service.
